Many people made sculptures, painted pictures, and composed poems to tell about that sacred time. This is one of the most famous sculptures that have been mad of Jesus back in the renaissance. It depicts Mary holding Jesus. She is holding him after he came off of the cross. He is died and she is grieving. The Christians and the church influenced these paintings and sculptures.
Contributing to Society Many people contribute to society by doing stuff. That is the main way. People can also contribute by painting pictures and making sculptures. In the renaissance, famous people were only being sculpted and painted. But this painting is different. This renaissance artist painted it to show the pain and suffering of the Black Death. Many people believed that the only way that they could contribute was to paint famous people. So you can imagine the shock when this painting came out.
The Importance of the Individual People consider the renaissance the “nude” time for sculptures and paintings. Why people think that is because there are many paintings and sculptures that had people either partially dressed, or not dressed at all. They think this because before that it was very rare that you would see something like that. That is because before the renaissance people thought that it was sinful to make sculptures and paintings of naked people. When the renaissance came, people changed their thinking. That is why during the renaissance there are so many nude stuff. What they believed was that the individual person was beautiful on the outside. “So why need to hid it?” They thought. “I mean Adam and Eve were naked in the Garden of Eden and they weren’t ashamed, so why should we be.” So with that thought they started to make different paintings and sculptures that were different.
The Importance of Learning During the renaissance, people started focusing on Education more than ever before. They considered education the most important thing in the world. Without and education, how are you supposed to get by in the world. The importance of learning was stretched so far that some people believed you needed an education in order to survive. Which is true, to some extent. But some scholars got so caught up with teaching and learning that they would only use the words used by the famous public speaker Cicero. Many people paid handsomely for their children to be taught by a humanist. Learning was very important in the renaissance.
