This sculpture is of Mary holding her dead son Jesus Christ after he was crucified. This statue was made by Michelangelo. His work was very influenced by the past. It was influenced by the Christian religion. Lots of the art was influenced by religion and it used to be all that the Christian society drew, painted, or sculpted. After the renaissance, artists began to start doing their work on other topics, like the people, and farm work. This never used to be. All artwork used to be focused around the Christian society. After the renaissance, art started to become less focused on religion only.
Contributing to society
This painting was made by Leonardo Da Vinci. This painting is called The Vitruvian Man. It shows the proportions of man. Da Vinci contributed to society by giving the people information about science. He showed this information through his art. Da Vinci showed how this man could stand in two different poses while at the same time being in a square and a circle. This is how Da Vinci contributed to the renaissance society as well as making a piece of art.
The importance of the individual
This painting was made by Leonardo Da Vinci. It is called the Mona Lisa. You can see how this painting is different from the paintings in the earlier times because rather then focusing so much on religion they are focusing on her personality and facial features. All of the art was focused completely on Christian religion rather then the beauty of the art. That is why this individual is so important in this painting.
The importance of learning
This is a drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci. It explains the human skull. Da Vinci did a lot of studying of the human body. He wanted to find out if what the Greeks said was totally true. This kind of studying was hard for him to do because the church would not let him dissect a body for science. He made them a beautiful painting called the last supper and so they finally let him do it. Da Vinci found out that what the Greeks were saying was not totally true. It was important that Leonardo was able to do this dissection because it was the beginning of science. Without this event we would not have been able to become the people we are today because we would not know much about science. That is why learning is such an important part of History.
